Zero
Waste

From repurposing food waste to reusing donated materials, we try to promote a Zero Waste atmosphere at the Hunger and Health Coalition.

Food Recovery Kitchen

Food is picked up from restaurants and grocery stores around Boone and brought back to the Hunger and Health Coalition to be repurposed into meals. This is all food that is still good and useable!

Animal Farmer Parnterships

In order to reduce the amount of waste we produce, the Hunger and Health Coalition partners with several local pig and chicken farmers. We go through the food that comes into our doors by hand to ensure our clients recieve good, fresh food. Anything that we as humans wouldn't want to eat, we package away for pig farmers to then come pick up and feed to their animals!

Material Reuse

We accept donations of cardboard boxes, egg cartons and grocery bags — both plastic and reusable — in order to reuse materials.
